Dining On The Subway in NYC
Imagine West or Tojo's serving dinner on the Expo Line. That might promote more people to take public transit! Initiatives such as these help build community! Well done, NYC, well done!
What Makes A Healthy Community?
What makes a healthy community?
First, let's define health:
Physical Health. Economic health. Social health. Mental Health. Spiritual Health. Health is all these things and more. Health is not merely freedom from illness but the ability to live a vibrant, engaged existence.
Now, let's define communities:
Groups of people. Neighborhoods. Blocks. Segments of the population. People of a common thread. Communities share histories that inform the present and hold a wealth of local knowledge.
How do we create healthy communities?
To create healthy communities, we must engage residents and stakeholders and place their interests first and foremost in the planning process to best improve all facets of community health.
This blog intends to draw connections between public health and urban planning and serve as a platform to spark discussion on how we want our cities to develop.
